About the campaign

An important role of the Safeguarding Adults Board is to raise public awareness so that communities as a whole, alongside professionals, play their part in preventing, identifying and responding to abuse and neglect.

People should be provided with information and support to help them understand the different types of abuse, how to stay safe and what to do to raise a concern about the safety or well-being of an adult.

In November 2015, the SSAB launched a countywide campaign, called ‘Thinking it? Report it’, encouraging people to make contact with Adult Social Care if they suspect someone is being harmed.

If you are worried that someone is being harmed or neglected in some way, report it. Out safeguarding services can look into it and find out what is happening. We know from experience there are vulnerable people in the county who are being subjected to abuse but may lack the ability, knowledge or support to challenge it or do something about it. That’s why we need people to speak up for them. If you suspect it, think it, hear it or see it, report it to us. Your intervention could help save someone’s life.
